Annotation. In this article, the authors examine the transformation of Russian international politics and economics in the context of multipolarity and geopolitical competition. The aim of the study is to examine the transformation of Russian international politics and economics in the context of multipolarity and geopolitical competition. To identify the causes and consequences of the multipolarity of world politics, which is in the phase of structural transformations. Undoubtedly, the outcome of the ongoing changes in world politics has been that: first, the substantive aspect of the work of international political and state institutions has changed; second, strategies and tactics of state and non state actors have adapted to the new conditions; third, the social conditions and legal mechanisms for making state decisions have changed, especially in matters related to national security; fourth, since the end of the Cold War, there has been a repeated process of change in the military political balance of power in international politics. All these internal and external political aspects constitute the scientific focus of our political science research. The authors concluded that, firstly, the transformation of the Russian economy and politics in the context of multipolarity and geopolitical competition is, among other things, driven by external factors. The main external factor for Russia and other countries remains the US–China economic and military political rivalry. Secondly, an analysis of world politics as a whole shows that it contains conflict potential that could escalate into a new world war. Economic contradictions quickly lead state actors to a state of military political rivalry. Thirdly, despite the varying forecasts of analysts, Russia is generally successfully coping with modern challenges. At the same time, in the context of ongoing economic and geopolitical turbulence, it is important to strengthen the state’s influence on all spheres of the economy and politics within the framework of a unified state strategy aimed at realizing national interests. Fourthly, the Ukrainian conflict is in a phase of military escalation, and its parties have not yet exhausted their potential. Regardless of how events unfold, the armed conflict in Ukraine will continue, as multipolarity leads to an escalation of interstate contradictions and an increase in competitive struggle between major financial groups. It is in this military and political environment that the Russian Federation finds itself today, undergoing a transformation of its own international policy under the influence of, among other things, external factors.
